Mumbai, July 28 -- Veteran actress Rekha will be honoured with the prestigious 'Excellence in Cinema' award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2026, where she will also attend as the Guest of Honour in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema.
The festival organisers said that a special screening of Rekha's timeless film "Umrao Jaan" will also be organised. Her performance in the Muzaffar Ali-directed film is considered one of the best performances in Indian cinema.
Speaking on the occasion, Rekha said that "Umrao Jaan" remains alive in her memories and in the hearts of audiences. She added that the film's recognition on an international stage is an emotional and proud moment for her.
