Visakhapatnam, Aug. 15 -- Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Saturday said regional identity and cultural heritage were important, but the spirit of being Indian was more significant and called for placing national interests above caste, regional and individual considerations.
Addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office here after hoisting the National Flag, Sribharat said the true spirit of India emerged when people stood together by rising above differences of caste, region and locality.
He said it was the responsibility of every Indian to stand by people in any part of the country during difficult times.
