Nagpur, May 24 -- Vidarbha continued to reel under an intense heatwave on Sunday, with no immediate respite in sight as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast persistently above-normal temperatures across the region over the coming days.

According to the IMD, maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 43 degrees Celsius and 47 deg C in several districts, prompting authorities to issue alerts amid worsening weather conditions.

A 'Red Alert' has been declared for Wardha, Chandrapur (Brahmapuri), Amravati, and Akola in view of the severe heatwave situation, while a 'Yellow Alert' remains in place for Nagpur, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli.
