Puducherry, April 9 -- A record turnout was witnessed in the Puducherry Assembly polls on Thursday as an estimated 86.87 per cent of the total 9.53 electorate have cast their ballots till 5.00 PM, as the polling to elect the 30-member Puducherry Territorial Assembly reached the final stretch, amid tight security.
Going by the unprecedented turnout, and with an hour's time left for the polling to end, the voting percentage was all set to cross the 90 per cent mark and create history.
The polling percentage in the 2021 Assembly polls was 83.4 per cent.
