Ranchi, May 31 -- The three-day Ranchi District Chess Championship-2026 concluded on Sunday with a record participation of 240 players, the highest ever for a district-level chess tournament in Jharkhand.
Organised by the Ranchi District Chess Association with support from the Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the championship was held at Chamber Bhavan in Ranchi.
Participants ranging in age from four to 74 years competed in the tournament, reflecting the growing popularity of chess across age groups in the state.
B.C. Tripathi emerged as the overall champion, while Biranchi Sinha was honoured as the veteran player. Ayushman Raj and Shanvi Sinha were recognised as the youngest boy and youngest girl participants respectively. ...
