Madrid, June 17 -- Real Madrid has confirmed the signing of former Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva on a two-year contract.

Silva, who will be 32 years old on August 10, joins Real Madrid with a deal until the end of June 2028 on a free transfer after his City contract expired.

The Portuguese had been a target for FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, although it is thought the chance to work with Jose Mourinho was a factor in his decision.

Silva continues Real Madrid's busy transfer business after Florentino Perez was re-elected club president in early June.
