Bengaluru, April 23 -- The long-held belief that IPL teams enjoy a strong home advantage is under fresh scrutiny after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Director of Cricket Mo Bobat suggested that franchises have limited influence over pitch conditions, even at their home venues.

Speaking ahead of RCB's clash against Gujarat Titans, Bobat said the idea of a traditional home advantage is increasingly blurred in the modern IPL setup, where pitch preparation is overseen by the BCCI curator rather than the franchises.

"It's a home venue in terms of the stadium, but by surface we don't have much influence," Bobat said, highlighting how control over conditions has shifted away from teams.
