Tiruchy, July 23 -- The left toe of a 70-year-old woman recovering from an orthopaedic surgery at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Tiruchy was badly damaged after allegedly being bitten by a rat inside the ward on Thursday.
The woman R Tamil Kodi , a resident of Alathur near Kalkandarkottai, sustained an ankle injury after an accidental fall at her residence. She was admitted to the government hospital, where she underwent surgery on Monday (July 20) afer which she was shifted to a general ward for post-operative care.
