Chandigarh, Sept. 5 -- A woman who accused Guri Chahal of rape appeared before a Mohali court on Saturday and recorded her statement, weeks after police sought to close the case as untraced, saying the complainant had not been appearing before the court.
The statement has put the case back before the court at a time when it has also become the centre of a political row in Punjab. The case was registered at Sohana police station on May 1, and Chahal is currently in judicial custody.
Mohali police had filed an untraced report on July 24. According to the complainant's lawyer, the police cited her non-appearance for recording her statement as one of the grounds in the report.
