Mathura, Feb. 27 -- After the grand celebration of the world-famous Lathmar Holi in Barsana and Nandgaon, the spirit of Holi reached its peak in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

On the auspicious occasion of Rangbhari Ekadashi, the entire Sri Krishna Janmasthan complex was filled with the fragrance of abir, gulal, and flowers. Devotees from India and abroad felt blessed to play Holi with their beloved.

In this divine setting of the natural spring festival, Holi in Braj holds special spiritual significance. It is believed that Lord Krishna himself initiated Holi in the Dwapar Yuga. This Holi celebration in Braj begins on Basant Panchami and continues for 40 days.
