Ranchi, June 21 -- Thieves allegedly decamped with jewellery worth about Rs 12 lakh and cash of Rs 1.55 lakh from a locked house in Ranchi's Pundag area, police said on Sunday.
According to the house owner, Sonu Soni, the family had gone to Patna after locking the house. On returning home, they found the lock broken and household articles scattered inside the premises.
The thieves allegedly took away jewellery worth about Rs 12 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 1.55 lakh, he said.
Residents alleged that the burglars tied ropes or latched doors from outside at neighbouring houses to prevent people from coming out during the incident.
