New Delhi, Sept. 14 -- Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh on Monday accused the Narendra Modi government of ignoring the mounting cost-of-living pressures on ordinary households, citing sustained wholesale inflation and a sharp decline in inflation-adjusted wages, particularly in rural India.
Ramesh said newly released official data showed that Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation had remained around 10 per cent for four consecutive months, while prices of essential commodities continued to rise, putting increasing pressure on millions of families.
