Patna, Sept. 28 -- Amid changing political equations in Bihar, Legislative Council Chairman Avadhesh Narayan Singh resigned from his post on Monday following which Deputy Chairman Dr Ram Bachan Rai assumed charge as the Acting Chairman of the Upper House.
Singh submitted his resignation to Rai, who accepted it. Soon after taking charge, Rai thanked the Janata Dal (United) leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.
In a statement issued along with his resignation, Singh recalled his long political journey, which began as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker, and his various responsibilities in the organisation. He also referred to his nearly 33-year tenure in the Legislative Council.
