Sriperumbudur/Hyderabad, Aug. 20 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu and Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at his memorial in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, on his birth anniversary today.
Bhatti Vikramarka recalled Rajiv Gandhi's contribution to nation-building and said his visionary outlook and modern thinking helped steer India towards the 21st century. He said Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation for major reforms in technology and telecommunications, with his promotion of computers and the IT sector contributing to the foundation of today's Digital India.
