Jaipur, Sept. 3 -- As many as 68 contestants have been elected unopposed and 31,356 remained in the fray in the civic bodies elections in 10,245 wards of 309 municipalities of Rajasthan.
A total of 8,775 candidates withdrew their nominations after the withdrawal deadline passed at 3 pm this afternoon, a state election commission spokesperson said here this evening.
A maximum of seven candidates were elected unopposed as ward members to the 80-seat Ajmer Municipal Corporation. With 125 having withdrawn, 315 are left in the fray there.
Likewise, five contestants were elected unopposed in Begun Municipal Committee, four in Brijnagar Municipality, three in Ramgarh Shekhawati Nagar Palika, and one or two were elected unopposed in various othe...
