Jaipur, July 6 -- The authorities today released water from the Panchna dam of the Eastern Rajasthan for irrigation in the Karauli district, fulfilling a protracted demand of the farmers of the region.
Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Suresh Singh Rawat and Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedam have opened three gates of the 258.62 metre deep dam in a brief ceremony.
This water is being released on a trial basis to test the canal distribution system. Later, 3 more gates may be opened to increase the discharge from the reservior.
