Mumbai, May 12 -- In a scathing letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has "held up a mirror" to the central government, questioning the moral authority of the Prime Minister to ask citizens for "austerity" while the ruling party indulges in grand displays of wealth.
Thackeray's letter comes in response to PM Modi's recent appeal to the nation to reduce the consumption of gold, fuel, and electricity to save foreign exchange amid the Iran-Israel conflict and a weakening economy.
Thackeray criticized the contradiction between the PM's advice and his actions.
