Kolkata, April 29 -- The polling in the second phase of election in West Bengal- despite spells of rain in several parts of the state- voters turned out in large numbers indicating that it might cross or go near to the record-breaking 93 percent in the first phase of the polls.
According to data released by the Election Commission of India, the overall voter turnout stood at 39.97 percent till 11 AM.
District-wise figures show Purba Bardhaman leading with 44.50 percent polling, followed by Hooghly at 43.12 percent.
Nadia recorded 40.34 percent turnout, while Howrah registered 39.45 percent.
