New Delhi, June 10 -- Late-night showers in parts of the national capital brought some relief from the heat, as temperatures dropped sharply during the early morning hours on Wednesday, the time at which minimum temperatures are recorded at weather stations for the day.

Safdarjung, Delhi's base weather station, recorded a minimum temperature of 22.9 degrees Celsius, a sharp decline of 6.3 degrees from the previous day. The temperature was nearly five degrees below normal for this time of year. Lodi Road also recorded a minimum temperature of 22.8 deg C, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) evening bulletin.
