Panchkula, July 25 -- Indian Railways will introduce an online facility for booking personal luggage accompanying passengers travelling on confirmed reserved tickets from July 31, as part of its push to digitise passenger services. The Railway Board has directed all Zonal Railways to implement the system following confirmation from the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) that the platform is ready for nationwide rollout.
The decision operationalises the Railway Board's in-principle approval issued in March 2025 for online booking of personal luggage to be carried inside reserved compartments.
