Panchkula, Aug. 19 -- The Ministry of Railways has declared 584 railway stations across the country as "Notified Stations" for six months from August 25, 2026, requiring goods booked by trains meant solely for freight carriage to be removed from these stations without delay.

The Railway Board has invoked powers under Section 89(1) of the Railways Act, 1989, after being satisfied that goods booked to these stations by trains intended solely for carriage of goods need to be removed promptly.

The notification states that the stations have been declared "Notified Stations" specifically for the purpose of the removal of goods without delay, and that the declaration will remain effective for six months beginning August 25.
