Panchkula, July 17 -- The Railway Board has clarified that Railway medical beneficiaries holding valid UMID Cards are eligible to receive treatment at any Railway Hospital or Health Unit for referral or emergency care, irrespective of the railway unit with which they are registered.

They are also entitled to avail themselves of treatment at empanelled Health Care Organisations (HCOs), including private hospitals, diagnostic centres and specialist facilities.

The clarification came in response to issues raised by the All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) regarding difficulties faced by railway pensioners and family pensioners in obtaining treatment from empanelled hospitals despite possessing valid UMID Cards.
