Panchkula, July 9 -- In a significant step towards introducing green mobility in Indian Railways, the Railway Board has approved the introduction of a daily passenger train between Jind and Sonipat to be operated with one hydrogen-fuel-powered rake.

The approval has been conveyed to Northern Railway through an official communication issued on July 8, directing the zone to commence the service at the earliest convenient date after completing all operational formalities.

The move comes as part of Indian Railways' ambitious plan to introduce India's first hydrogen-powered passenger train, for which the Railway Ministry had earlier approved a hydrogen fuel cell-powered train set and the associated infrastructure on the Jind-Sonipat section. ...
