Jammu, Aug. 12 -- With the objective of enhancing passenger convenience and promoting religious tourism, the Railway Board has approved the extension of Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express up to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
The train will run via Jammu and will have a halt at Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan station before reaching Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
As per the official handout, the extension will provide great relief to thousands of pilgrims and general passengers from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and other parts of Western India.
"Until now, passengers coming from these regions had to deboard at Jammu Tawi station and take a bus or other modes of transport to reach Katra," it read.
