Doha, April 23 -- QatarEnergy, the state-owned energy company of Qatar, announced on Thursday that its joint venture with ExxonMobil has begun exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Golden Pass LNG facility in Texas.
The company said the first LNG export cargo from the project was successfully loaded at the Sabine Pass terminal in the United States.
Production at the facility began on March 30, and the inaugural shipment was carried aboard QatarEnergy's LNG vessel Al-Qaiyyah, which has a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters.
Qatar's Energy Minister and QatarEnergy CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi called the project one of the largest investments in the history of the US.LNG industry.
