Bengaluru, Aug. 10 -- Congress MLC Puttanna was on Monday appointed as the acting Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council following the resignation of Basavaraj Horatti from the post.

The Governor issued an order appointing Puttanna as the temporary Chairman ahead of the Monsoon Session of the state legislature, scheduled to begin on August 13.

Horatti resigned as Council Chairman on August 7. His resignation came amid differences over the timing of his exit, with Horatti stating that he had intended to step down on August 14 after addressing the Legislative Council during the Monsoon Session.
