Puri temple panel to raise ISKCON Rath Yatra issue with President, PM

Puri, June 5 -- : Expressing concern over the observance of Rath Yatra outside the prescribed ritual calendar, Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb on Friday said the Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and the temple managing committee would take up the issue with the President of India, the Prime Minister and other union ministers.

Chairing a meeting of the Shri Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, the Gajapati said the committee has resolved to urge the Odisha government to take appropriate steps to prevent the untimely celebration of Rath Yatra abroad, which, according to the temple authorities, violates the traditional tenets and ritual practices associated with Lord Jagannath.
