Chandigarh, July 25 -- A Punjab Police Sub-Inspector has been suspended after a female inspector accused him of sexual assault, continued blackmail, and coercing her into ending her marriage.
The accused officer, Sahibmeet Singh of Ludhiana's Sunder Nagar, was booked late Thursday night at Dakha police station. First Information Report (FIR) details confirm charges under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Investigators said that the two officers connected on Instagram in 2023. Matters took a turn in November when Singh called her to meet him in Mullanpur. According to the victim's statement, Singh allegedly spiked her drink at a local venue, causing her to lose consciousness.
