Chandigarh, Oct. 2 -- Punjab Police on Friday said they arrested 303 people during raids at 617 locations linked to suspected gangster associates as part of a statewide crackdown.

The searches were conducted on the 255th day of the "Gangsteran Te Vaar" campaign, which was launched in January this year.

Police said one weapon was recovered during the operation, preventive action was initiated against 190 people, and seven proclaimed offenders were also arrested.

According to police, the latest operation took the total number of arrests recorded under the campaign since its launch to 75,535.

Separately, police said 106 alleged drug traffickers were arrested on the 580th day of the state's "Yudh Nashean Virudh" anti-drug campaign.
