Chandigarh, July 29 -- Punjab Police has started a new e-Zero FIR mechanism to speed up investigations into cyber financial fraud cases, especially those involving transactions above Rs 5 lakh, officials said on Wednesday.

The system has been introduced following directions from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and a standing order issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. The move is aimed at reducing the delay between a cyber fraud complaint and the registration of an FIR, allowing investigators to act quickly.

Under the new arrangement, complaints registered through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) or the cyber crime helpline number 1930 will be converted into e-Zero FIRs automatically. These FIR...
