Neeraj BaliChandigarh, July 29 -- Punjab has a total foodgrain storage capacity of 256.52 lakh metric tonnes (LMT), with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and state agencies jointly maintaining infrastructure to handle wheat and paddy procurement, the Centre informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Replying to a starred question raised by Malvinder Singh Kang, union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi said the FCI has a storage capacity of 168.22 LMT in Punjab, comprising 151.19 LMT of covered storage and 17.03 LMT of Cover and Plinth (CAP) storage, including both owned and hired facilities.
