Chandigarh, Aug. 21 -- Punjab witnessed a mixed response to a seven-hour statewide bandh on Friday, with markets closed and traffic disrupted in several districts as Sikh organisations and farmer groups demanded the release of Sikh prisoners who, they say, have completed their sentences.
The bandh, called by the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha, was observed from 7 am to 2 pm. The protest also seeks to highlight opposition to police action against demonstrators at the Chandigarh-Mohali border on Aug. 15.
