Chandigarh, June 23 -- A man wanted in multiple criminal cases, including allegations of kidnapping and sexual assault, died during treatment after being injured in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police officials said here today.
The deceased, identified as Satpal alias Sattu, had allegedly escaped from a Ludhiana jail in February this year after spending several years behind bars. Investigators claimed he had been hiding in parts of western Uttar Pradesh following his escape and was wanted in connection with a series of serious crimes.
