Chandigarh, Feb. 22 -- In a significant blow to trans-border narcotic smuggling, the Faridkot Police has dismantled an international drug syndicate allegedly supported by Pakistan-based handlers.
The operation, part of the "Yudh Nashian Virudh" campaign, led to the arrest of six individuals, including a serving Indian Army soldier and a dismissed police official. Authorities recovered 4.8 kg of heroin, a .30 bore pistol, live ammunition and Rs 30,000 in drug money during the crackdown.
Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced today that the success was the culmination of a two-month-long intelligence-led operation and jail-based interception.
