Paris, Feb. 26 -- Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid CF booked their places in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 after hard-fought wins over AS Monaco and SL Benfica, respectively.
Paris Saint-Germain were held to a 2-2 draw by ten-man Monaco but progressed 5-4 on aggregate. Monaco took the lead just before half-time through Maghnes Akliouche's clinical finish to put pressure on the hosts, as per the UEFA Champions League.
The match turned in Paris' favour soon after Monaco's Mamadou Coulibaly was sent off for a second booking. Captain Marquinhos equalised with a composed finish from Desire Doue's cross before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia capitalised on a rebound six minutes later to give the French champions the lead.
