Bhubaneswar, May 23 -- Amid growing public outrage over possible power tariff hike, the Odisha government on Saturday clarified that the proposed amendments to the state's power policy are intended solely for upcoming thermal power projects and will not impact existing Independent Power Producers (IPPs) currently supplying electricity to the state under already executed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Officials in a statement issued today said the prevailing arrangements for power supply at variable cost would continue unchanged and, therefore, the proposed policy revision would have no bearing on the existing Bulk Supply Price (BSP) or the Retail Supply Tariff (RST) payable by consumers in the state.
