Mumbai, May 26 -- The prime absconding accused in the recent Byculla firing case here has been arrested in Kolkata, crime branch officials said on Tuesday.
The accused identified as Saif Mastan was arrested based on information given by two suspects.
On May 13 two bikers allegedly opened fire injuring Sameer Mohammad Asif Khan alias Sameer Sheikh, the 38-year-old son of alleged D-Company gangster Asif Sheikh alias Asif Dadi. The incident occurred in the Dockyard Road area of Byculla in South Mumbai.
Initially Byculla police has registered an offence but later crime branch unit 3 also began its probe and arrested two suspects identified as Zeeshan Anwar Sheikh, 30, and Sadik Sheikh Liyakat Sheikh, 30. from Mahim area of Central Mumbai.
