Puri, July 21 -- Preparations for the Bahuda Yatra (return car festival) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings commenced on Tuesday, with servitors positioning the chariots at the Nakachana Dwar (exit gate) of the Gundicha Temple for the return journey to the Srimandir.

The ritual, popularly known as 'Dakhini Moda', began with the Darpadalan Rath of Devi Subhadra being pulled nearly 500 metres backwards along the Badadanda before being turned southwards and positioned near the Nakachana Dwar of the Gundicha Temple.

The Taladhwaja Rath of Lord Balabhadra and the Nandighosh Rath of Lord Jagannath will be similarly repositioned on Wednesday. Devotees, assisted by police personnel, will pull the chariots to their designated places at Saradhabali...
