Nagoya, Oct. 3 -- Pranavi Urs turned a late fight for the lead into a piece of Indian sporting history, holding her nerve on a tense final day to become the first Indian woman to win an individual golf gold at the Asian Games here on Saturday.

The 23-year-old Mysuru golfer finished the competition at 15-under par, overcoming a brief loss of the lead before reclaiming outright control with a crucial birdie on the 13th hole.

Pranavi, who had carried a three-shot advantage into the final round, was pushed hard as the title race tightened. But having surrendered the lead, she responded at the crucial moment, producing the birdie on the 13th to move back to the top and then held on through the closing holes.
