Mumbai, July 16 -- Maharashtra Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal alleged that the state government's announcement of a power bill waiver for farmers was "misleading", and in reality it was aimed at benefiting industrialist Gautam Adani rather than the farming community.
Addressing a press conference at Tilak Bhavan, Sapkal said that although the government had announced a farm loan waiver, the scheme had yet to be implemented.
Despite the lack of actual relief, the government is busy congratulating itself.
The recently announced electricity bill waiver is not intended to benefit farmers but designed to favour the ruling party's preferred industrialist, Adani, he alleged.
