Lakhimpur Kheri, March 5 -- A sensational revelation has emerged in the case of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found in a sugarcane field in the Sadar Kotwali area of Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
The post-mortem report has confirmed that the girl was strangled to death and sexually assaulted, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the body of the Class 11 student was discovered on March 3 under suspicious circumstances in a village under the Sadar Kotwali police station. The victim was originally a resident of the Laharpur area of Sitapur district and had been living in a rented house in Lakhimpur Kheri to pursue her studies.
