Puducherry, March 26 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) today said a total of 366 candidates are in the fray for the April 9 Puducherry Assembly elections.
After 410 of the 514 nominations filed by various political parties and Indepedents were found in order and accepted, 44 candidates have withdrawn from the contest on the last date for withdrawals on Thursday, leaving 366 candidates in fray.
With the final list candidates in fray officially announced, the stage set is set for heactic campaigning by various parties, with top National leaders including from the BJP, Congress are set to descend in this union Territory for campaigning in the next 12 days.
