Puducherry, April 13 -- Puducherry Congress Committee (PCC) President and Lok Sabha member V Vaithilingam on Monday urged the centre to take steps to secure the release 12 fishermen from Karaikal region in the union Territory abducted by the Sri Lankan Navy yesterday.
In a letter to External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, he said the 12 fishermen who ventured into the sea on April 10 were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy near Kodikkarai on charges of trespassing into the Sri Lankan waters.
