Pune, May 10 -- Senior legal luminary Adv. Ashutosh Srivastava said here on Sunday that both ruling and opposition parties must respect the spirit of the Indian Constitution and avoid interfering in the functioning of democratic institutions.

Srivastava said allegations of misuse of central investigative agencies by ruling governments are frequently made in the current political environment. However, he pointed out that the Indian Constitution has clearly decentralized powers among the pillars of democracy and expects each institution to function independently without interference from others.
