Srinagar, Feb. 25 -- Jammu and Kashmir police recovered 694 antique coins, believed to be of significant historical and archaeological value, during a routine operation at Awantipora in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
Police said the recovery was made from the Pinglish area of Tral. Pinglish is a village in the Tral Tehsil of Pulwama district.
The recovered coins have been kept in the custody of the SHO Police Station Tral, Inspector Tajamul Islam. Coordination was established with the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology & Museums to facilitate scientific handling and preservation in accordance with established archaeological norms, a police spokesman said.
