Kolkata, June 12 -- An FIR was lodged against Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Friday over her alleged inflammatory remarks during a political rally earlier this year, police sources said.
A case was registered and an investigation initiated into the matter based on a complaint filed by a businessman at the Hare Street Police Station here on June 7..
The complainant alleged that Banerjee's remarks during a public meeting in central Kolkata's Rani Rashmoni Avenue ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections were "provocative and capable of promoting social discord".
