Kolkata, May 31 -- In a significant development, police carried out a search operation at "Uday Villa," a residence in Kamarhati associated with Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra on Sunday afternoon.
The operation was led by Dyutiman Bhattacharya, Deputy Commissioner (South) of the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
A large police contingent arrived at the property around 1 pm.
According to police sources, the house was locked when officers reached the premises, and Madan Mitra was not present.
Police subsequently broke open the lock and entered the building.
After conducting a search for nearly an hour, officers seized several documents before locking the premises again and leaving.
