Agartala, July 14 -- Tripura Police on Monday arrested a BJP leader in Sepahijala district, identified as Pintu Ranjan Ghosh, the main accused of a rape case involving a minor about a month ago.
However, BJP officials said that Ghosh is no longer associated with the party, as he was suspended as soon as the report of his involvement in immoral activities came to light.
Police said Ghosh had been evading arrest since the case was filed. According to the report, Ghosh was arrested during a naka check conducted in Melaghar following a tip-off.
