New Delhi, Aug. 27 -- As of August 19, 2026, the number of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts stood at 59.09 crore, with total deposits in these accounts reaching Rs 3,16,514 crore. The scheme has provided millions of previously unbanked Indians with access to basic banking, insurance, pension, and credit-linked financial services.
According to the Ministry of Finance, 55.7 per cent of PMJDY account holders, or 32.92 crore people, are women, while 77.8 pc of the accounts, or 45.95 crore, are located in rural and semi-urban areas.
