Dhaka, Aug. 20 -- The Bangladesh Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Advisor Humaiun Kobir has said that Tarique Rahman's proposed India visit can only happen once an "appropriate environment" was created based on mutual trust, respect for sovereignty, diplomatic dialogue and "a dignified invitation".
Kobir said Dhaka was in no hurry to arrange a high-level visit without clearly defined national interests, as uncertainty grows over Rahman's possible attendance at the BRICS Summit in India on September 12-13. Bilateral ties between both countries have come under renewed strain over Bangladesh's demand for the expeditious extradition of former premier Sheikh Hasina.
